Career paths in animation? Focus your portfolio, say industry recruiters

November 13th, 2020, college faculty, industry experts and job seekers learned from the CCW Regional Program Advisory on animation occupations in LA.  Industry experts discussed emerging talent, work trends they are seeing during the pandemic, and factors that will drive success like emotional intelligence and specific production experience.  Educators discussed the importance of a solid work ethic, team skills and pushing your skills in deadline-oriented projects, all of which are invaluable as students prepare to seek industry careers.

One of the key takeaways was to build experience and a portfolio in a specific area of animation, so you have deep expertise in one skillset/capability rather than spreading your work across many aspects of animation.  Recruiters don’t value broad experience as much as deep expertise in one area.

Speakers include industry representatives from Netflix Animation, Nickelodeon, Disney Animation, FarSight Studios and Bento Box Entertainment, among others.

The Look Book of the event provides details on speakers, industry representatives, college program information, and related meeting agenda information.  View it here: CCW Animation Look Book
